Caladium

Caladium was painted from one of my favourite spots in the Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park. Nestled between Thomson's Pond and Peg's Pond, you'll find towering bamboo and caladiums the size of you. They felt like something out of another world, or even Jurassic Park, and made me feel as small as a mouse. I love how nature can ground you, how a change in perspective can shift how you see the world—and your place in it. This painting reflects the awe I felt at the sheer scale of these plants, with the marks in the centre of the leaves symbolising how electrifying such encounters with nature can be, and how truly wondrous they are.
