About:
"Crabbing in Cornwall" is a painting that reflects the precious moments spent by the sea with family and friends—of boats bobbing in the bay, of dangling from docks, and crowding over buckets of crabs on the piers. Like much of my work, it’s an abstraction of various places, aiming to capture the essence of Cornish seaside towns and the joy we find in simple pleasures, like crabbing or watching boats drift by. It’s about feeling a deep connection to the world, the sea, and one another. The bold use of pink symbolises this love and nurturing spirit—both for ourselves and our loved ones. The small charcoal figures on the dock represent these shared bonding moments.
