Rose Laurel in the Dark

Rose Laurel in the dark is a flower taken from my mother's garden in Chile. My mother and her partner have worked so hard to build a house, with beautiful gardens in a very hot and often dry climate. I remember enjoying the beautiful smells of the gardens under crystal clear skies where the stars lit up the sky and gardens below. My painting of this flower aims to capture the fragrance and atmosphere of that time, as well as the beautiful flowers that adorn their garden. 

I painted two iterations of this flower - Rose Laurel Chile is another view that aims to capture this time, place and energy of the flower.
