Thomson's Pond

This piece was inspired by Isabella Plantation and Thomson's Pond within it. The sketches and photos I took for this were taken in September, where one proud tree had just started to turn to a beautiful red. It stopped me in my tracks and called me to paint it. It took a few months on the easel to complete and do justice to, but I feel the multiple layers give it the depth and light it now has. 

This painting is mixed media on canvas. I've foraged items from the location - including crushed up leaves in the red tree and used sticks for painting and mark making. Other mixed media includes: acrylic, oil sticks, soft pastels and moulding paste mixed with acrylic.
