Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey A4 mixed media abstract painting. This work has been created using multiple layers - starting with a base of acrylic, layer of fluro spray paint, sketch on the composition with willow charcoal, use white acrylic and a pallete knife to carve and layer the image, then go back over with more acrylic, posca pens and charcoal to add depth and perspective.

I used to walk 5km to work every morning, passing iconic landmarks like Big Ben and Westminster Abbey along the way. In my palette, I’ve incorporated pink to symbolize hope and optimism. While the daily walk to and from work might not seem particularly joyful, it was a powerful moment of clarity. It gave me the space to reflect and develop ideas, while also inspiring me to think of creative ways to connect with others. Passing monumental buildings like these made me feel part of something larger, filled with anticipation for the day ahead.
